![]() Gene C. Barger, Ph.D. Partner Dr. Gene Barger has consulted for over twenty years with community banks and other financial services companies across the United States. As a licensed psychologist, he is able to draw upon his education, formal training, and industry experience as a strong foundation for evaluating the various competencies that have been shown to be associated with the leaders of high performing banks. In addition to assessing the leadership capabilities of those in senior management positions, Dr. Barger has worked with directors, providing guidance with regard to role clarification and boundary management, committee structure, and how to best utilize board members in their efforts to promote and grow the bank. Dr. Barger is particularly attuned to the challenges and opportunities currently facing community banks and has established a successful track record of helping his clients “get the right people on the bus and in the right seats.” In addition to evaluating new hires, Dr. Barger devotes an equal amount of time assessing existing members of management with an emphasis on executive development and succession planning. Other value added services include executive teambuilding retreats, 360o feedback programs, leadership training, performance appraisal enhancement, and executive coaching. Dr. Barger grew up in Atlanta and earned his Ph.D. from Georgia State University in 1987. He is married with two children and enjoys participating in a variety of activities including golf, tennis, boating, hunting and fishing. |
